The exhibition of the Czechoslovakian machine industry in 1955 has been the precursor of today’s machine fairs. The first International Machine Fair [ Czech. Mezinárodni strojirenský veletrh ] took place in Brno in 1958. This confirms the unique position of Czech machine industry, famous throughout Europe since Austro-Hungarian Empire, formerly and today as the most important pillar of the Czech Republic economy.
